TASCA ANGEL VALENCIA

Best meal in Valencia, goes to Tasca Angel, tiny shop front behind La Lonja.

The man insists you order sardines - he is right:

Too late - remains of tellinas (tiny clams) and padron peppers

La Ciudad de las Artes y de las Ciencias de Valencia

The amazing Ciudad de las Artes y de las Ciencias (arts and sciences). Best use of a dried up riverbed I’ve ever seen:

Wish the Olympic committee had paid Valencia a visit.

THE VIEW TUBE & AN EAST LONDON STROLL

Perched on the Greenway and a short walk from Pudding Mill Lane DLR is the View Tube:

Its a social enterprise with lots of information about the park and its legacy. Most importantly though, its home to the excellent Container Cafe which may well be the only option but is a very good one.

The view tube also provides excellent people watching - enormous tour groups (who knew?), cute families and ridiculous Hackney Wick jogging ensembles.

Definitely worth a look (and a coffee).

As the name suggests, there are great views of the developing Olympic Park - although you get a better look at the aquatics centre from a train into Stratford station.

Combine with a stroll along the Greenway, a diversion to Hackney Wick (Counter Cafe), wander through Victoria Park, along Regent’s Canal and finish with a drink at Broadway Market and you’ve got the perfect East London afternoon.

Pointless exercise or not, I gotta admit I enjoy going back over the year’s music and trying to work out what were the highlights. I’ll probably change my mind in five minutes but for now this is it. I’ve not put anything in that is already included in my top albums cos it’d make for a pretty…

WALKER-LOVELY’S ADVENT COOKIES

The very lovely Walker-Lovely has made these beautiful advent cookies. Christmas countdown begins here:

OBJECT OF DESIRE: JOHN LEWIS JENSEN LIGHTS

Or John Lewis Jensen Dangle Cluster Ceiling lights to give them their full name. Aren’t they lovely:

At £230 I’m very happy that they’re currently out of stock but will be watching them like a hawk come the sales. Wouldn’t they look beautiful in a very white, very light bedroom (mine).
